A battery a day....

Well we have had some battery issues lately. Yesterday the battery in the Durango went out as we were leaving to go to thanksgiving dinner. Thankfully Junebug call just as it happened, so he was able to give us a ride.
Tuen today the battery qent out on the Mule... So we had to charge the Durango battery to get to Bg. When we got there I was amazed at how many people were still shoping for Black Friday deals, but then again this was the first time I have ever been to town on Black Friday. Let me ask one question... Why, I REPEAT, why would anyone whant to shop in such chaos???? I know I wouldn't.

More work on the barn!!!!!

Well since I didn't feel like enjoying myself shopping on black friday, Dad and I worked on the barn.
It was pretty cold this morning (28!!!) so hadleing metal siding was not very fun.

More work on the shop

I just finished working on the shop. I worked on the last work bench for the shop, I didn't finish it, but I got a got a good start on it.
Also I worked on the forge. I had to do some grinding on the forge so that my forge hood (that I haven' built yet) will fit in it.

That is what Dad said today when we finished putting siding on the front of the barn today, and I gues that is true. Then again we could have said that 3 months ago!!!!LOL
Here are some photo of the barn that I took today.

Creek View Blacksmith Shop

Well I have to admit that I am not the most "Loyal" blogger out there, but at time's I can force myself to sit down and have a small battle with this crazy computer. Not to mention how busy I am working on the barn and blacksmith shop!!!
Here are some photo's of how the blacksmith shop is coming. Right now I am building some work benches. I love having a shop to build stuff in, because with the lights I can work after it is dark. Dad and I stayed up there until 7:00 the other night, I wanted to keep working but Dad was getting so cold that his hands were going numb... I didn't think that is was THAT cold... I wasn't even wearing a sweat shirt.... It was only 38 out side.
The next project on the shop will be building a side draft hood for my forge.... I have NO idea how that is going to turn out.

So here are some photo's of the shop in it current state of disaster.... LOL

This was the hardest bench to build, because we had to build around that post.
I am starting to get some tools out!!!

Here is the bench that I was working on yesterday and last night.

Well that's all I have to show right now, when I get more done I will try (key word there "try.. LOL) to post some more photo's.

Been busy.....

I guess my few, but faithful followers are a little put out with me, for not publishing a post in a while. I have my reasons though.
As most of you know Dad and I have been working like crazy on the barn and blacksmith shop. trying to get them done before winter sets in. SOOOOOOO... That's my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL The barn is coming along, we have all of the roof up, and we just finished installing the metal siding on the upper wall. We are hoping to get the gable end walls put up soon. Also Dad has framed out a door in the back wall in the loft to hunt out of. LOL I told him " That's not hunting, that's shooting.".
The reason I have the time to publish this post is because I have been battling some stomach problems for the past 5 days. I think it is being caused by the starting of a growth spurt. If this is what it takes for my body to grow, I will gladly stay 5' 7". LOL
Also we sold one of our cows and a calf, Thank God!!! I REALLY wasn't looking forward to milking 2 cows a day. LOL

Just wondering if you think I am crazy.

If building the barn and blacksmith shop wasn't enough work, I have decided to build a log cabin in the woods for me to live in.
The cabin isn't going to have any electric, or running water so it will be like living in the 1700's, but that is alright with me. Because that is the type of life stile I want to live, you know, no electric, no running water, and farming with horses. So I was wondering if you are thinking I am crazy for wanting to live this way?
I have already started clearing the land for my cabin, and I don't mean using a chain saw. I have been using a ax and a 1-man cross cut saw to cut down the tree's, but I have been using our Kawasaki Mule to skid the logs out, because of the lack of owning a teem of horses. I will post some photo's of me clearing the land for my cabin, and the building of the cabin as I make progress.
Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think.

It finally happened....I GRADUATED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I can remember the first day of first grade and I can remember thinking "There is noooo way that I can endure 12 years of this" Thankfully it only took 11 years, and now I am graduated!!!!!!!!! So here are some photo's of the graduation party that Mom and Dad organized. It was supposed to be a surprise party, but it is hard to keep me from finding out things that are happening around here. LOL Here is the graduation cake that my sister Sherry made for me. It is the coolest cake I have ever seen!!!!
Here is most of the Knight family. I will name them off from left to right, Joel, Prentice, Tiffany, Malachi, and Mr. Knight.

This photo was taken when Junebug and Aunt Sharon gave me Jake!!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!

Here is Aunt Pam, Sherry, and Mam-maw.

I don't think Randy was wanting his photo taken.

Here is Scott, Holly, and Braden Cherry, enjoying some of the "graduation grub".

"It is time for a little home made music" So that's what we had for a few hours.

The Thomas family came in just as we finished playing music for the day. which was kinda a bummer because Ben ( you can just barely see his head on the top left of this photo) plays the fiddle.

By the time Ben got his fiddle out, almost every one was gone so we had a private concert.

He get really focused on what he is playing. He has been playing for 7 years now and what he played for us was great!!!!!
After every one was gone I had to go milk, so I had time to reflect on the day that I have waited 11 years for.

Time for a little fencing and I don't mean for the livestock

A few weeks ago the our good friends, the Custer family were able to come over for a visit. I had told Dave that I had always wanted to try my hand at fencing, so he brought his fencing foils along. So here are some photo's of us going at it. "Ready?????"

GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

OK, I'm backing off now.

I am not to sure what Dave was doing, I think he was a little upset that i disarmed him, but I have to admit that he did disarm me too.

Time for a rest.... It was really hot outside and after just a few minute's I was huffing and puffing like a tired race horse. LOL After that I think we went in to cool off and get a drink, if I remember right I got ice water to cool down, and Dave got a cup of hot coffee, I don't see how that would cool a person down. Then again I'm not much of a coffee drinker so I wouldn't understand.

Now for the roof.

"Watch your step!" That's what I told Justin when he was up there, because that first step off of there is a real dosy...
Here is Gabriel taking a break in the shade. I don't blame him, because the day we were doing that the heat index was 108 f!!!!!!!!!

Finally after 2 weeks we finally had the barn under roof, as always "it took longer than we thought". LOL

Ok...I have been a little busy

If I have to guess, I would say that my loyal followers are a little put out with me for not publishing a post for so long, but as you will see... I have been a little busy. Just as Dad and I thought,we weren't able to get the barn under roof in 1 day. The photo's I have on this post was taken over the course of 2 day's. Here is the first day of raising the barn. those center post's that we were setting in this photo was 24; long!!!!!

After a few hours we finally got all the post's put up and braced.

Here is Justin working on the hay chute that we installed next the ridge of the roof.

This photo was taken on the end of day 2.

I believe every one was ready to quit for the day when we got this far in to it.

I think... YES I am still alive and kicking.

First of all I will apologize for not publishing a post for so long, but things have been REALLY crazy around here for a wile now.
Since my last post, Dad has gotten a job working for Pella Window and Door Co. again, and we have bought 3 milk cows. Also we are in the process of building a barn, blacksmith shop, put up fencing, and building a chicken coop, and all of that has to be done before Dad starts his job ( Which will be on July 6th.).
This last week 2 of our cows have mastitis, and one of them also has milk fever. The 1 with both diseases may not live, but we are praying and hoping for the best. If all goes well I will have 3 cows to milk by had twice a day!!! UHH any one want to come over for milking lessons, and don't worry, I won't be disappointed if I don't get to milk all three. LOL
The barn project is going Very slow, but we have hired a crew of Mennonites to set the post's, put on the wall bands, install the loft floor joist's, and put on the roof. They say that they can get all that done in 1 day!!! I will have to see it to believe it.
Got to go for now,
Chase

This video is very funny, I don't know how they do it. It is called the Turkey Rap. Those two guys aren't using any instruments or turkey calls.

Enjoy,

Chase

2 Week's ago was Dad's birthday, he hit the big 56!!! He didn't know a thing about it until every one showed up, and Mom told him...Surprise!!! So here are some photo's of the big event.

( Left to right) Junebug, Henry, and Dad were told to do this funny shot of hear no evil, speak no evil, and see no evil. I think every one was laughing at them when they did it. Leave it to "Beaver"

Here are some beaver photo's taken yesterday. The photo above is of Mama beaver, and This is baby beaver. The Cherry family had come over for a visit, and we went down to the creek where Logan promptly caught a baby beaver with his bare hands!!!I think Logan's new nickname is Beaver.

Here is me holding it, and he showed me how much he liked it by leaving a mess in my hand! GRRR

OK, When do we start rebuilding Noah's Ark

MAN, What a gully washer of a rain we've had the last two day's, but it was a good test to see if my cabin site will flood, and it passed the test!! Here are some photo's of the flooding around here. The photo above is of our woods right below my cabin site.
This photo was taken on Old mount Lebanon Rd, notice the mail box

This is... or was the new Mount Lebanon Rd bridge.
